About Me

My photo
An 18 year old wandering artist interested in design, fine art, and fashion.

Not lost and/or forgotten

~ ~
I'll say this--Im not dead. School is battling my life, and winning, thus...I havent found time to keep up with my little gem of a blog. I havent forgotten my fellow bloggers. I still find time to read your blogs, but cant manage to post in my own. Soon, though. I will post soon.

Marion Bolognesi

~ ~

Illustrations by Marion Bolognesi.
I have the first illustration on a shirt I own.
^My illustration inspired by Marion Bolognesi^

Ditte Isager

~ ~
Ditte Isager is an incredibly photographer. Her photos are unworldly, namely her interior shots. The color pallets she is presented with are stunning. Im starting to feel like a 30 year old, and am trying my hardest not to by $285 lamps or throw pillows from a design catalogue.

Lima bean

~ ~
Today I took a sick day, and Im glad I did. I sketched her this morning,
and am currently playing around with color in photoshop.
I may put her on the projector, blow up the image, and lay down some acrylic.
I have to stop being afraid of paintings, they aren't that scary...
but I am a bit of a dumby when it comes to picking out colors.
Her outline looks like a lima bean, doesn't it? I may have to name her lima;)

Henderson Dry Goods

~ ~

Vancouver designer Alex Henderson crafts wood works from mirrors, to clocks, to jewelry. In essence, she's amazing. I'm a huge fan of the mirrors, both hand-held and jewelry.

No. 31

~ ~
I spent the greater portion of my morning sketching a new girl,
not quite sure where its going yet.
Lately, there hasnt been much time spent in my sketchbook,
I hope that changes soon.

Sam Weber

~ ~
Sam uses a mixture of traditional and Digital methods to create stunning paintings. What I find alluring is the opaque skin tone, with dream-like light sources.

Little bits on him here and here.

No. 29

~ ~
This morning it occurred to me that I should take a silversmith class...
I want to learn a trade, so making jewelry seems like the next best thing. Im always in search for basic everyday sterling pieces, so what if I just made them myself? It would be a great craft to perfect in the upcoming years.
And now some eye candy from Etsy..

I have a serious problem of committing myself to countless aspirations.

girls

Paintings by Jen Mann
The second one down is my absolute favorite..
They look exactly the same,
but when you look closer,
they're subtly different.

Jewelry by Hanna Hedman

it's essentially wearable art.
I am completely enamored...

canon rebel XS

~ ~
Looook what I found:
Okay not found...more like bought for $100x5!
It was time to invest in a new camera.
I never dreamed of owning an SLR,
but low and behold, dreams do come true.

knuckle ring

~ ~
recent jewelry purchases
chain ring, UO. Ear Cuff, Etsy. Trible earrings, F21. Knuckle ring, thrifted.

I found the knuckle ring when I was out today, and was imediately overjoyed. I saw it in the case, and as soon as I slipped it on my finger, without hesitation I said "I'll take it". The lady laughed and said "You do know its $15, right?" I was just happy it fit. Ive searched hiiiigh and low for one of these rings...on ebay they go for more. Im way stoked.
Ohhh the little things that make you happy:)

paper cuts

~ ~
Paper-cuts by british designer Julene.

feeling blue

~ ~
This is a watercolor Ive reworked from earlier this year.
The turn out is better than I expected,
Id never done a pattern combined with watercolor.

High res found here.

Wedges

~ ~
I tried to branch out and experiment with clean lines,
this was the result.
(The heart really did form on its own, I just enhanced it)
;)

five(+ one) fall finds

~ ~

Jcrew 125
Fall is the best time for fashion.
I cant wait to find that one pair of boots,
the sliming skinny jeans, and a massive scarf.
Its time to get warm and cozy:)

Fur

~ ~
My latest piece Ive been working on (instead of posting on my blog!) for the last week or so.
I saw this photo, and had to recreate it.
Kitties! meowww

minimal things

~ ~
Caroline Morin
I appreciate the simplicity of her illustrations, they are minimal in color, and combine skill and creativity effortlessly. Simple repetition of pattern really speaks in these.

Find her here.

On a side note, autumn (yes I said it) autumn is almost here. Its got me excited for fall trends, warm cozy places, a new school, new faces, and fresh starts.
But I am terrified at the same time.

Dalla

~ ~
My latest piece entitled Dalla.
She was drawn in my sketchbook, then transfered into photoshop for editing and color. I love the subtle detail of visible graphite underneath the digital work..I can't tare myself away from drawing in the details and keeping it realistic.

She was named Dalla because in icelandic the meaning is luminosity, brilliance (light). The way she's positioned facing to the side with bright eyes made the name stick. She's brilliant! :)

crosses

Life is hectic at the moment, Im getting caught up with a boy! And lost in plans for next fall.

One recent pick from tumblr is April Nicole, she has loads of fantastic photos, all inspiring. I find myself sifting through endless archives, searching for photo references...then having the problem of choosing just one to sketch. What a problem!

Pink rose petals

~ ~

I scanned in the sketch from the other day and edited it in photoshop.
To say the least Im pretty pleased with how it turned out.
It took awhile since I hadn't used photoshop in a long time..
but Im going to try and be more consistant with creating work
so the turn out is cleaner and happens faster.

Sketches

~ ~
I always feel obligated to post in my blog daily..but then again who says I have to.
Ive been busy sketching as much as possible. I try to sketch daily, and already Im seeing improvement. I can sketch more accurately and for longer periods of time, Im finally growing some patience! haha The new projector I bought arrived today, I snagged it for only $5! It works just fine but I have to buy transparency sheets for it so I can blow up my sketches, retrace them, and hopefully make something great of them.
